90% silver coins (also known as "junk silver") include common pre-1965 Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes; Walking Liberty, Franklin, and Kennedy Half Dollars; Standing and Washington Quarters. These coins contain 0.900 fine silver and have varying degrees of wear on the surfaces, as they were minted for general circulation by the U.S. Government. Buying 90% silver is a very economical way to invest in silver bullion. Regarding quarters and dimes, we can generally sell them close to their bullion melt value. Half dollars would command a slightly higher premium as they are considered to be semi-numismatic coins. 90% silver is available in units of $100, $500, and $1000 face value.

40% silver coins include Kennedy halves minted from 1965-1970. 40% silver is generally sold at a slight discount, below melt value, as there would be more refining costs if they were to be melted down. 40% silver is available in the same face value units as the 90% silver.
